We have What Are You Listening To? so its time for What Are You Reading? What you think of it. Was the end predictable? Would you recommend it, or recommend that we don't bother with it?

I'm reading The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett right now. It is a bit slow moving and I think I like his later work better.

I just finished A Sudden Wild Magic by Diana Wynne Jones. An adult fantasy set in two alternate universes and a third, mini universe, this book explores gender roles and the what-if-there-was-someone-secretly-controlling-everyone-and-everything theme as well as having magic, loss, love, hate, sabotage, toddlers, cats, good food and grumpy centaurs. definitely one of my favourite books.

Well I am currantly reading a lot of Desmond Begley. I find his books very good. Lots of action and adventure. You think you know what's happening but then SHBAM! something else happens and your trying to figure out what happened.

Also just read Courage Under Fire. It has been turned into a movie. Very good book but kind of sad. Can't remember who it's by.

Fun reading. Hugs

I've been working my way through all my Jennifer Fallon books AGAIN!

By the way I think you all should read "The Belgariad" and "The Mallorian" series' by David Eddings. They're my favourite books. Max and Amy were just reading them at the same time. It was so funny

Yep, that's what I'm reading. Those two David Eddings series' are really good because they're interesting, well written and have a lot of wit and humour to them. They're pretty much fantasy, but different to a lot of conventional fantasy. He changes things around a bit, and the characters are really well developed.

Yeah, he's so very cool.
I would also recommend "Dune" by Frank Herbert to anyone who likes sci fi books. It's gots a really good plot and the story incorporates a lots of different reasoning for the way things are in that world. Very cool if you like thick sci fi.

100 pages?! That's impressive Sean.
I really liked that series. And if you've never read Stephen King, don't be discouraged by his reputation. I think he is one of the most amazing writers ever, and I've read quite a few books in my time. I really liked that series as well actually, it's one of his best works (and I think the one that's taken the longest for him).

Unfortunately she doesn't have them all here. One of my very favourite collections of his are The Bachman Books. There's a couple of amazing stories in there that he wrote under his pseudonym.
I also love The Stand and Bag of Bones. Especially The Stand. It's quite long, but well worth the effort to read (if you even notice it being an effort) Very Happy

I just finished reading "On the Jellicoe Road" by Melina Marchetta. I thoughroughly recommend it! Caution: it is a real BYOT (bring your own tissues - aka sad - for those who don't know.)

Read it!

i think it was bittersweet more than sad. She's certainly grown up and moved on since Looking for Alibrandi. but did you feel slightly unsatisfied? I did, I was so fragmented, and parts of it were so sudden. Maybe a bit too uncredible?

do you know how hard it is to write this without giving anything away ?

It's pretty hard I think. And a lot of authors give heaps of things away, but as long as there are a couple of really good twists it doesn't matter too much I think.

I've been reading the Jeniffer Fallon books aswell, though have come to a bit of a stand still since I have reading I HAVE to do for Literature, which I mostly enjoy anyway. Have any of you read 'The Rocking-Horse Winner'? I can't remember who it's by at this point in time, but it's a really good short story.

No I haven't read it but I love short stories, I think they are a High Art form.
I started reading my comfort book again today. some people have a security blanket or a soft toy, but for me its Deep Secret by Diana Wynne Jones that I turn to. Very Happy
