hey ya'll, it's always interesting and inspiring to find out what everyone's making, painting, drawing, creating.. Lets share our interests, encourage each other to do just do it, and stop procrastinating.
I'm not doing anything intereting at the moment, apart from keeping on top of my home work, though I plan to at least start a quilt this year, and I'd really love to sew a few little things, including a backpack to take my books to tafe in. _________________ Hanging Frangipani is my home (aka Serenity) |

ahhhh, sewing. I remember when I had time for that...
I'm really getting into spinning at the moment. I found an old natural dyeing book of mum's and discovered that you can dye wool using chamomile flowers. My mum, who works at a food co-op had about half a kilo of "past its use by date"chamomile tea (we don't actually think there was anything wrong with it) so I made the while Kitchen stink by mordanting (preparing the wool for dying) with alum and then made "chamomile stew" in our biggest saucepan which made the whole kitchen smell delicious. Then I made it smell like chamomile flavoured sheep when I actually dyed the wool and now I have some lovely golden coloured fibre to spin with. Except it semi felted in the water so I'm in the process of carding (sort of combing it so all the fibres are going in the same direction)
so thats the story of my golden fleece. _________________ Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt.

Well since camp I have written two more songs!! I am also in the process of creating an art portfolio that includes all the elements of art. We have to do this as assessment for CIT but it sure is fun. We get to work with all sorts of mediums. We worked with pastels and crayons last week doing line and colour. Next week we get to use charcoal and work on shading. Don't ask me what this has to do with child care because I haven't made the connection myself yet! Well all keep being creative you wonderful people. Love and hugs _________________ "Take notice of the small things in life. They're sometimes worth more then the big things." |

Hee, golden fleece Zoe (or should I say Medea?).
I actually wrote a rap the other day. I've been playing guitar a bit as well. And I want to get some photo frames for a few pictures I took last year that I really like.
Josie made me two really cool headbands today too! One's purple, and the other one is green. They totally rock. _________________ I see what you mean. |

Aww, I love reading about what everyone's up to! Zoe, your wool dying sounded like fun, and I can imagine it look really beautiful! I keep looking at the un-spun wool I brought back from camp, and know I will find time once the weather cools down a bit.
I had my sewing machine out the other day; making head bands for Amy, and it just made me want to sew even more.
I had an enjoyable morning working at my cafe job, and then a great afternoon in my enviro studies class.
thats all for now _________________ Hanging Frangipani is my home (aka Serenity) |

Actually no Zoe, I wasn't one of the guitar intention people. I had guitar lessons for two and a half years, and Mary actually wants me to start teaching her. The only problem is that I pick up classical guitar way faster than songs, which is what she (and I'm assuming most of the other intentionees) wants to learn. But we'll see how that goes.
My rap was about people tryng to escape from reality and avoiding facing their fears. _________________ I see what you mean. |

Go Amy!! I mean to get back into my classical guitar. it stopped when my teacher got cancer, is home now...mum is still deciding which day will work best. I can't really play cords apart form G and C and Am
Im an working on my sisters quilt it is a nine patch winnie the pooh quilt. I will put a picture of it and the other quilt i made up here once i can't figure out how to post pictures.
I have also dug out some pattens that my Grandma gave me when i was 10. i throw them in the bottom of my cupboard with dispare(sp?) as i could work out how to do the knots. Thank you Josie for showing us how to make friendship bracelets as i can now make use of these pattens. They are of a snake and a lizard worked in just about the same way as the bracelets.
thats enought for now more later

I just finished a collage that I made on canvas for a local exhibition called 'The Way I see It", mine was on music. I created a background with sheet music, lyrics and chords that I like to play. Then painted tablature across that and took some photos of our instruments, framed them and put them on top. It turned out not to bad
The only other arty thing have been doing is playing music Danielle and I have been playing some super cool songs by Jet. |

Yeah, It's great Mel. Love your colours. I learnt dry felting last night. Amazing technique, you stab the wool with a slightly serrated needle, it mats it all together... I'll put a piccy up when I've finished... _________________ Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt.

Well, at the moment a lot of my creativity is going into drama stuff for uni. I have to do a monologue and a two person scene and perform it in two weeks. But unlike everyone else in the class, I'm actually doing two two-person scenes because a girl's partner dropped the course. It should be interesting.
We're working from a play by Brisbane writer Shaun Charles. And it just so happens that the only two female characters who have dialogue together are in a pretty intense relationship. I guess that's one way to break the ice though, right? _________________ I see what you mean. |

cool, its really satisfying isn't it? I Just made a card pocket for all my keycards and things cos my wallet just fell apart... I made it out of some old jeans and it looks really good but unfortunately my machine and i had this big fight cos it doesn't like denim... honestly you'd think we were mother and son or something...! ( i think we'll have to do some negotiation with a bottle of oil and a spanner ) anyway, now everyone in my family wants one!
But I agree with you Josie, sewing instead of homework is not a good idea (I'm meant to be doing a report)... I guess I should just find a course where sewing IS the homework... _________________ Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt.
